PERFORMANCE CHARTS
The Performance Charts show that, each year, if the percentages of the course time are plotted on a particular chart, there are a small number of the best crews concentrated at one point called The Hot Spot. Furthermore, in each year, the Hot Spot is in approximately the same position relative to the bulk of the results. The first set of charts show the basic figures as calculated. and given in the Percentage Tables. Originally it was thought that there might be some significance to be seen in the charts for the various Status groups, or possibly the Trophy groups. It is now clear that there is no special significance. The Senior 4 group for 2002 is shown as an example, but the other groups have been omitted to save space.

It is shown in the Explanation and Background article that the data is frequently distorted by the variation of external influences, most likely wind. The effect of these influences can be seen in the fit charts

The charts show the relative Performance by Place - to find the Place for a particular crew, use the Results in either Crew Number Order, or Alphabetic Order
The places are shown on the charts. However this is not the easiest way of finding the location of a particular place - click on the appropriate year in the table below, note any 2 of the percentages for the place of interest ( it is recommended that Start - Barnes is one of these ), and it is then simple to locate the place on a particular chart. Since the Percentage Tables are in Place Number order, this is the simplest way to translate a place number to a crew name or number.
