While the full results were still being finalised for over 300 crews, the top two crews (Oxford Brookes University BC A and Leander A) had been the focus of much attention as it became increasingly clear that it was going to be difficult to separate them.

Following deliberation with the timing team the Head of the River Race Chairman, Ben Helm, issued the following statement:

“After reviewing the camera recording, the conclusion was that the crews could not be separated with 100% confidence and a dead heat was declared”
