The Head of the River Race Committee has reviewed the UK Government advice to avoid non-essential contact within new enhanced social distancing rules.  We have concluded that the Head of the River Race falls within this restriction and consequently this year’s Head of the River Race cannot proceed. 

 

We will confirm with our suppliers the costs incurred following a notice of cancellation today and will reimburse pro-rata the remaining funds.   Refunds will be processed via BROE 2.  Refunds will be made to all crews that had not withdrawn prior to the close of entries.  Those who withdrew prior to the close of entries and had paid will already have had their refund processed by BROE.

 

The Committee know that our competitors and others involved in the Race will be deeply disappointed, but as the country is facing an extreme stress everyone involved in the Race will understand why we cannot proceed in the interests of the wider population.
